Origin: Kigezi Valley, Uganda
Cultivar: SL14+
Process: Natural
Roast Level: Light
Taste profile: Cranberry, Citrus, Winey
High in the mountains of southwestern Uganda, the Kigezi Highlands stretch across a dramatic landscape of terraced hills, volcanic ranges, and high-altitude lakes. This microlot comes from a network of more than 300 smallholder farmers working in the region with Kigezi Valley Coffee and Mountain Harvest.
At 2,000–2,200 meters above sea level, coffee here develops slowly in the cool mountain climate. This lot is naturally processed: ripe cherries are sorted for quality and then dried whole, allowing the fruit to remain in contact with the seed throughout drying.
The result is a fruit-forward but structured cup. We find cooked cranberry and fresh citrus, with a winey acidity and creamy mouthfeel—bright and juicy, while still balanced and easy to drink.
Flavor notes: Cranberry • Citrus • Winey
