Curupira is the guardian of the forest. This coffee is a twice milled blend of all coffees from Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza (FAF Coffees). It is an easy drinking expression of their terroirs.

Over the course of the milling season, a lot of good coffee comes out of the electronic and density sorter. The machinery is re-programmed at some point in the season to make a lot which is the ‘blend of the harvest’ from that mill. In Portuguese ‘Curupira’ is a folklore character who protects the forest. This is part of a larger ‘Full Farm Profitability’ project to find value in all the coffee that comes from the producer trees and not just the top lots.

Coffee background

Learn more about this coffee origins.

Straight from the source

300km north from the city of São Paulo, the Mogiana region is composed of mountains and rolling hills, embracing the border of Minas Gerais. The region resembles a tropical version of the French countryside and Northern California being marked by warm days and cold nights, which allows great development of sugars in the coffeebeans. Sticky sweetness and a dense creamy body are the principal sensory characteristics of this region. Another unique feature is the precisely marked wet season (October-May) and dry season (June-September). The harvest hereoccurs from May to September, under safe and consistent weather conditions for Natural Processed Coffees.
To us the Mogiana terroir is perhaps leading to the creamiest body among coffees from Brazil. Notes of chocolate, dried fruits, berries and nuts, together with a long-lasting sweetness, provide coffee components for outstandingespresso or cold brew style beverages.
