Straight from the source
High in the Apolo region of Bolivia, a collective of ~35 indigenous families, about 90% women, chose a different path. Years of coca cultivation had stripped their soils; yields of anything else were tough. With agronomy support and sheer community effort (shade tree planting, organic matter, careful pruning), they began converting plots from coca to specialty coffee through the “Cocaine for Coffee” project carried by our supplier Cafe Kreyol. What you’re tasting now is a milestone harvest that captures resilience in the cup and renewal in the soil. Purchasing this lot helps the group continue soil rehabilitation and expand coffee quality programs for more families.
